Open Gate Hostel offers unique and affordable accommodation on the raw lava fields of Hawaii’s Big Island, surrounded by dramatic coastlines, tropical jungle, black sand beaches, and the ever-changing beauty of East Hawaii. Located near Pāhoa on the island’s lush east side, we are just a short drive from natural hot springs, scenic coastal hikes, waterfalls, and Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park — home to one of the most active volcanoes in the world.
